Benefits of Play Therapy

Healing Through Play: Understanding Play Therapy

At Wellness Works Counseling Services, PLLC, I believe that healing is not one-size-fits-all. For children, play is more than just fun—it is their primary language for expressing thoughts and feelings they might not yet have the words to describe.

What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a structured, therapeutic approach that uses play to help children explore their experiences, process emotions, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. In our office, I utilize specific play therapy strategies to create a safe, supportive environment where children can feel understood and empowered.

Why Play Therapy Works

Expression & Communication: Children use toys, art, and games to represent their internal world and work through challenges in a way that feels natural and safe.

Skill Development: Through interactive play, children can practice new behaviors, build self-esteem, and improve their social and emotional regulation skills.

Tailored Support: Whether a child is processing a life change, managing anxiety, or navigating trauma, play therapy is a developmentally appropriate way to support growth across all age ranges served by our practice, including children ages 3 and older.

Is Play Therapy Right for Your Child?

Every child’s journey is unique, and I am here to provide the clinical support your family needs.
